Rent to Buy through my Housing Association

Post Body

The last little while i have been looking at different options to buy property or at least put a deposit on a property. I get PIP, ESA (support group) and UC with LCWRA elment.

There have been a couple of Berevements in my family and i did get some money left to me as it was my Dad and Gran who passed. I have told the DWP about this.

I have enough to make a sizeable deposit on a property. I currently rent a flat through Irwell Valley. I was having a look at there Rent to Buy scheme and it sounds a better route for me compared to buying property the normal way and it means i will get a foot on the property ladder.

I spoke to my bank on the phone the other day and to be fair they were very helpful. I told them i was unsure how likely it would be to qualify for a mortage based on my circumstances and they said they would determin that based on my outgoings and affordability and told me they can accept PIP and ESA toward a Mortage repayment.

I was having a look at the Rent to Buy document my H.A has https://www.irwellvalley.co.uk/media/c1hmcfhi/communities_rent-to-buy-policy.pdf and i noticed something, one of the bullet points says "Must be in Employment" isn't this discrimanatory? If i show i can very comfortably afford the monthly repayments, theres no reason why i can't get a Rent to Buy property? Has anyone had any sucsess with this scheme?
