Struggling with gpa during conversations

I have a computer with high end parts though they are a bit older.

Intel i7-4790K 4GHz

GTX 1080

24Gb DDR3 1333 MHz ram

Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB

etc...

I can't get a consistent high fps framerate with it dropping below 20 when it loads conversations with npcs. Do I really need a new build for this game? I feel like if my PC could run Crysis 3 at 60fps how can it not run Baldur's gate conversations?

To be fair I’m running the game on ultra cause I can’t bear the shame of doing less when I spent so much money on this pc even if it was a number of years ago

Edit: upgraded ram, cpu, motherboard, cooler and hard drive. Running super smooth at 60fps now
