This is all based on my personal opinion and what I remember of the books!

Protagonist : Kyoshi = Yangchen

I like them both equally as protagonist. I love Kyoshis revenge arc, and her sparing the guy Lao Ge was going to kill was huge turning point in her arc that I loved. I love Yangchens arc about how she views herself, the cobferAfion she has with Kavik about “up there” her vs “down here” yangchen provides so much insight that i love. The way she overcomes her self doubt by the end and chooses to keep fighting not of her own accord, not anyone else’s.

Deuteragonist : Kavik > Rangi

I love Rangi, but Kavik getting his own chapters and fleshing out his character made this a pretty easy decision. Rangi has practically nothing about her separate from Kyoshi, I can’t say the same for Kavik. Still love Rangi tho!

Side Cast : FoC >>> Yangchens Team

We spend much more time with them compared to yangchens team, they’re much more charismatic, and enjoyable in my opinion.

Antagonist: Jianzhu > Chaisee

Jianzhu is a much better villain imo just cause we don’t really know much about chaisee at this point. Jianzhus relation to Kuruk then turning him into an obsessed and by proxy villainous person is extremely interesting to me, top 3 avatar villain imo.

Plot : Kyoshi = Yangchen

I like both plots in the book and i think they fit both characters situations quite well. I definitely like the political intrigue in Yangchens book, but I also love the action packed scenes in the Kyoshi book!

Writing : Kyoshi = Yangchen

Kinda same thing from above

Worldbuilding : Yangchen > Kyoshi

I suppose this was kinda inevitable considering how much more political intrigue DoY had but yea.

i actually did like both books equally so that makes sense. I’ll be doing this again once I read Legacy of Yangchen as well . Lmk your opinions!
