Warning: inexperienced first time grow post

Getting all my equipment for my first grow in the next few days, but I’m curious how many people have had success with autos using BuildASoil’s soil recipes. Specifically the light & 3.0. I wasn’t set on growing autos when I was buying soil so I bought both, but I’m only planning on starting out with 1 plant in a 5 gallon living soil pot. I’ve read the 3.0 can be hot especially for an auto, but I’ve also seen other posts with success with the 3.0. I’m leaning towards running with just the light recipe, but I’ve also thought about doing a bottom layer of 3.0 and starting the seed in the light with a solid layer around it so it has time to develop before it jumps straight into the 3.0. Curious if anyone has any experience /advice here!

Also curious on how people have amended/top dressed if they grew this way. I am getting compost from a local nursery that I trust and also ordered BAS’s craft blend.

And it’s felt like I’ve read mixed opinions on PH’ing the water with living soil so I’d love to hear opinions on how you approach that.

I’m super new to this and especially the living soil aspect so any tips or products that you’d suggest I would greatly appreciate. Super excited to get my first plant in the ground but I know it’ll come with mistakes regardless. Hoping this post can help minimize some of those mistakes haha. Thanks all!
