Well no one ever said the brakes weren't off I guess.

I think many people who had watched the now reborn National Party leadership over the past couple of months were expecting a trainwreck when they eventually were to be forced to bring out their own manifesto without the constraints of the Liberal Party holding them back.

But I doubt ANYONE was expecting THIS.

But don't just take my word for it. Let's go through some of the highlights, or should I say lowlights of this manifesto and see how far down the rabbit hole we go.

Let's ignore for a moment that 90 percent of the Nationals Manifesto (If I'm being generous) is literally what happens when you take the Liberal Party Manifesto and copy-paste it to a new window, but there are many, many highlights to go through, let's just pick a few

Establish a law enforcement and civil unrest segment of the Australian Defence Force

Does this sound normal to you? Number 1, that sounds an awful lot like a secret police force and every Australian should be absolutely terrified of the implications of such. Number 2, such things already exists in state police forces, there isn't a need for a national force that would take time and resources to deploy. This is just simply a call back to the Fremantle Protests and another glaring example of Griffo being unable to except any truth but his own. He still believes turning the armed forces on protestors was right and that everyone else was wrong. Really we could stop just at that but let's keep going.

The Chinese Government is exerting its influence upon Australia; Port Karratha, Port Darwin, what next? Once they're gone, they're gone for good. The Nationals will establish a Senate Inquiry into Chinese influence within Australian politics and our economy.

Ahh yes, the familiar dogwhistle of Griffo and Riley, if you can't blame the left or you can't defend your own failings. Blame China. This is clearly an Australia First speech in sheeps clothing, yet more of an example that the true power of the Nationals no longer lies with the person claiming to be the leader, but the former Australia First party co-creator waiting in the shadows for his moment of revenge.

Abolish the Australian Human Rights Commission in order to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and devolve that power back to the states

Gee the leadership that was so against the human rights of protestors they turned the armed forces on them don't care about human rights. Color me shocked. Ignoring the fact that the Human Rights Commission has nothing to do with bureaucracy, the fact that the Nationals want to abolish Australia's Human Rights watchdog tell you all you need to know about their thoughs on human rights. Again more of an Australia First lean as well. It's becoming hard to see where Griffo's influence is in this manifesto.

Implement street curfews for minors

Might wanna ask the Queensland opposition about how well that idea fared.

Boost wages

That's a nothing statement, every government wants to boost wages, some for low paid workers, some for high paid workers, what this doesn't mention is HOW they plan to boost wages, they can't order companies to suddenly start paying more, not without raising the minimum wage anyway, but history has shown us the Nationals leadership tends not to care about low paid workers. So I don't think that's likely, which takes us back to what I said at the beginning, it's a nothing statement.

Protect the Great Barrier Reef and The Great Australian Bight

Another nothing statement, no plan to point out how, no plan to reverse the damage already done.

Truthfully if I had the column space I could go on for another 10,000 words. I haven't even got to the plan to reestablish the Death Penalty, among other highlights, but I would urge all Australians to read the Nationals Manifesto nonetheless.

For only through reading the manifesto for yourself will you understand what it is truly like when a party sheds what ever control they had left and gives into to the insanity that their unchanging ideology is.
