The results are in!

The results of the first stage of the new national Flag Design competition has now concluded! The winner was announced this afternoon on the ABC by the Prime Minister himself. For those who missed the live broadcast, the final results table can be seen below:

The Golden Wattle reigned supreme over all!

The Golden Wattle design was a clear winner in the vote, however there was a significant first preference vote for rerunning the whole event, with some clear dissatisfaction with the designs offered. The Prime Minister's office is of the firm belief that this is a reflection of the lack of satisfaction in the designs moreso than the idea of the flag change itself.

And so to help unify the nation behind this new flag, a second phase of the plan has been initiated!

So what now?

So now, taking the results from the first stage of the redesign competition, designers are once again being asked to submit their ideas for a new flag. However! Only designs that are centred around the victorious concept of the Golden Wattle are requested. All other designs will be reject. Australia has spoken, and their preference is clear- but their satisfaction is not guaranteed, and this process should hopefully make the nation feel like they were at least properly consulted which will lead to greater unity as one people united under this banner which will represent us as one great nation!

As before, submit your design ideas as comments on the crosspost over on r/AustraliaSim, and the best ideas will be curated into a Google Form which will then be opened to the public to vote on.

Features new designs must include:

- An emblem of some kind representative of a wattle
- The colour(s) green and/or gold/yellow

Other suggested features:

- Horizontal segments
- The Southern Cross
- Seven Pointed Star(s)
