The sun is out in Horsham as showstealer makes an appearance in fromt of the town hall, streamed on Facebook as well. A decent sized crowd has gathered to hear him speak, he also has a lady with him as he takes to the mic

Ladies and Gentlemen. It's good to be back in Horsham. Horsham is where our push for better GP services began. A push that ended with the GP Accessibility Agency that continues to ensure that rural communities like Horsham can gain access to a GP in a timely fashion and that Australia can claim to have some of the best healthcare in the world today.

Horsham was also the place where our push for those equalities in healthcare all began and before I make my final speech of this campaign and talk about the by-election tomorrow. I wanted to take the time to acknowledge the person that started that journey, that started that fight, to show people that a single local voice who understands local issues can make a difference.

showstealer invites the woman up to join him

Ladies and Gentleman you may recall when I first put forward a motion for a president's commission into the Rural GP shortage I told parliament the story of a young woman named Jessica. Jessica's story of how difficult it was living with Type 1 Diabetes in Horsham was the catalyst for our push towards getting GP equality for rural communities. Her voice highlighting a key local issue here in Horsham and her bravery to stand up and say "This is not right" is the reason why we have the GP Accessibility Agency now. She was but a single local voice but her voice highlighted the plight of half a nation, her voice was loud enough to show the government of the time that things had to change and her single changed the lives of so many people around the country. It is my honor to show this woman's face to the country and to the world. Jessica, on behalf but of not only me, but the rural communities of Australia we thank you for your bravery and we acknowledge your voice that has changed the lives of so many

showstealer takes a step back for a moment as the crowd cheer Jessica loudly, letting her have a moment to take it all in, he shakes her hand and thanks her dearly before taking the mic once more

Sadly friends, our fight in that case is not yet over. We have made a tremendous start but healthcare inequality in rural communities is still a huge thing, many people are forced to leave their families behind to go to Melbourne for specialist treatment of a number of diseases and surgical requirements. We need to continue to fight for those people. We need better funding for rural hospitals, we need specialized treatment centres in rural capitals so the distance for people to travel is not so far. We need better solutions. Not only in healthcare but for our farmers, who continues to do it tough through harsh conditions and red tape. Their voices need to be heard. For our rural families, who due to larger freight costs are suffering even more than suburban families through the cost of living crisis. Their voices need to be heard. For young people, who don't have the same access to education and TAFE learning that suburban youth do. Their voices need to be heard.

We need local voices like Jessica who understand the local issues to ensure our voices are heard properly. We have seen, even in this short few weeks of campaigning just how much people believe that. We've seen the Commonwealth Party agree with us, stepping back and endorsing our grassroots movement. To those Commonwealth Party voters who have joined our movement, we welcome you with open arms and we want to hear your voices as well. Because we realize many of your problems are the same as ours, Together we can work on finding the solutions to those issues.

The LNP would have you believe that we are irrelevant, we have a candidate openly treating this electorate with contempt, they have not addressed one single local issue this entire campaign. Those people who still stand by them need to ask themselves, do you trust the LNP, after they have abandoned you time and again to be any different this time? The fact that they have put us last only shows their fear of us because our movement is growing and they realize it, growing to a point where they will have no choice but to hear us. They'd rather keep their heads in the sand, which is fine. We have an opportunity this weekend to send a message to the LNP. That message is simply this. You may defeat us, we knew from the start our task to get back was herculean. but you will not ignore us.

Then there is Edible_Pie and the ANCAAP party. As I have said before in this campaign, some of their ideas are out there but also valid, they have at least shown that they are willing to listen to rural communites, for that I respect them. Like the other parties though, they're not understanding of the local issues yet. They came out with a billboard yesterday saying they stand by farmers, but in what way, because it seemed to me like they were suggesting they should all start cultivating marijuana from their billboard.

We want our farmers to thrive. But to do that we need to improve the system. Stronger protections against losses due to disasters like the drought and the floods. Less red tape they have to wade through to ensure they are doing the right thing, which often turns out to be the wrong thing. Larger penalties for suppliers who price gouge the system and turn the market into one that is grossly underpaying the people providing the food to our country. Their voices need to be heard, just like all the voices putting forward those local issues, like Jessica did, need to be heard. History that the only way they will be heard is with a local voice. I once again want to be that voice.

Tomorrow the voters of Nicholls will once again give the honor of choosing their representative for their voice. This by-election is a choice of whether the people want a local voice that may not have a seat at the table or a voice that does, but may not do anything with it. Tomorrow is a chance for our voice to be heard together. One way or another. I am confident, our message will be heard.
