The second question I have has to do with Jriver Media Center. I use this religiously for streaming my music from my computer to my Sony UBP-X800. I have it set to output currently at 24bit/88.2kHz. Most of my audio files are encoded at the standard CD rate of 16bit/44.1kHz. What exactly is happening during the output? is jriver MC upconverting or resampling and then sending to my player at a higher "quality"? I have tried many different settings and combinations of things to finally get ALL my audio files to output successfully. I also have some DSD files and FLAC files that wouldn't play in their original format. I do have a receiver (Integra DTR-30.2) that can decode DSD internally, but I assume my X800 just won't allow the files to be played through to the receiver. I originally had intended to stream DSD files to (or is it from?) my X800 but that didn't work. So now I have the DSP settings in MC to output DoP at DSD64 and the audio settings set to output at the 88.2kHz at 24bit. That's the highest output that seems to work with ALL my files. If I set it higher, to 96kHz 24 or 16 bit, then it skips like a broken record on some files. Some other files will play fine but then the files that are higher quality will skip. Is there a better way to have this setup? I just want all my files to play without having to adjust every time I switch between, for example, a DSD album and then to a Flac album, ALBUM=FOLDER of files.
I hope I am making sense and that my question(s) is(are) being understood. I really just want to play all my media without a hassle. I also would like to get input about how you think I could configure my MC to maybe even output higher quality sound. I am streaming because I can't afford to keep burning discs. I have hundreds upon hundreds of burned discs of all kinds (DTS, MP3, CD, DVD, SACD, Blu-ray, etc.) and I just wanted an easier way to play my files. Thanks for your time and for any future input.
