Hey Folks, cinema student here, at an intermediate knowledge level of color spaces, bit depth, and HDR.
In shopping for monitors, I noticed that the display of the Atomos Ninja 5 and 5 is 10 bit but its only gamma is rec 709. I'm a little confused by this.
To me, this indicates that if I wanted to monitor an image shot for a deliverable in a format with a wider color space, such as P3 or rec 2020, while using a LUT designed to take full advantage of that wider space, the monitor would either display that LUT inaccurately, be unable to display it all together, or at least display some modified rec 709 version as a guideline. Am I getting this correct?
Otherwise, is there some way to monitor wider color spaces on this device? Does Atomos make a different device with displays capable of P3 or Rec 2020?
Thanks in advance!
