Is two month notice at the end of the month typical for rented apartments? (London)
Post Body

My gf and I are moving place soon. She's told me a) we must give two months notice and b) it must be end of the month. So if we gave notice at on the 3rd May (for instance), we would need to stay or pay for essentially 3 months, .

Sounds mad and obnoxious to my ears, though I've not lived in the UK long. Is that backed up by any law? I'm wondering what the penalties would be if you simply refused to pay and moved out too.
