How’s the job market and rent looking for prospective US spouses moving over to the U.K. (-and for returnee U.K. citizens)?

Post Body

Fellow Brit here with a US Spouse!

I’m currently looking into moving to the U.K. with my spouse. I have a BA degree in Social Work (need to do NQSW), and a PGDip in Project Management that were both obtained in the U.K. before I temporarily moved to Japan. I’ve also had some experience working in the role.

Right now I’m working as an Assistant Language Teacher in Japan and so is my partner.

I’ve also got experience with working in background screening in the past, as well as plenty of experience in customer services.

My partner has a BA in Architecture in the US and would like to look into a job in the U.K. too. Preferably something that can jumpstart him into entry level Architecture in the U.K and towards getting a licence.

What do you think my chances are like with getting a job here that’s over 26k when I get back to the U.K.? How about for my partner? Also, would places like Essex be a good place to look for affordable places to rent? Our cap is about £500-600pcm.

EDIT: Thanks for the advice. After reading up what all users had to say, me and my partner has decided to stay in Japan another 18 months, so we can save up an amount of money needed in case me and my partner were unable to find work right away.
