Has anyone been messed around by Wageworks recently? I’m new to NYC (and the US), and there was apparently a transitional period for Wageworks where they were transferring their cards from MasterCard to Visa so they’ve had lots of problems.
The thing is, I was issued my original card at the start of June, and it took two weeks to arrive. I was unable to activate it. I looked online and it says the card was closed and another card was issued without me knowing. Two weeks go by. I activate card #2, it works on OMNY for two days, until it doesn’t. I look online - card #2 was also closed! I rang up Wageworks / Health Equity and the woman says that the original card, card #1, was actually the replacement card (???) and I have to wait another two weeks for another replacement card to solve the issue.
I’m super frustrated because this money is taken from my paycheck monthly solely for using the subway, and I can’t get it back. I ended up cancelling next month’s loading of money, because by the time card #3 arrives it’ll probably be another month and my month’s worth of transit on my account wouldn’t have been used. Should I just order a Metrocard through Wageworks instead of using the debit card, or avoid using Wageworks altogether?
