We want to visit NYC hopefully in December for a long weekend. We would be flying into Newark airport.

I was looking for affordable hotels and seen a lot of suggestions to stay in Williamsburg. However, it looks like the trip from Newark to Williamsburg would be pretty long.

We are country bumpkins and this would be my first time flying. I’ve used subways before but am not a pro and get intimidated still by them and the bus system, lol.

I am just looking for an affordable hotel to stay (hopefully $200 or less per night) in a safe area that has easy and fast access to nyc and from the airport to our hotel.

Last time we were in nyc we stayed in Lincoln harbor and took the ferry which was a little stressful for us as first timers.

If you have any suggestions they would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
