Was on a bus for 90 minutes today. A guy got on at my stop and listened to sport on his phone for the whole journey.
Others got on at various stops and music and conversations were also had on loudspeaker.
I didn't challenge any of this behaviour. Noone else did either. I think in general post covid travel etiquette has deteriorated.
Then it struck me. Is the rise of headphone wearing on public transport a response to inconsiderate behaviour by fellow commuters?
It's the only sensible solution I can come up with.
What do you think?
Have you asked someone to turn down the volume or, like me, do you feel that's just a waste of breath these days?
Edit: I'm going to join the headphone-wearing community.
