Looking for some advice from any teachers available

I’m currently making a practice test for my course I’m taking. Like with any other test, I have to create a answer key for it. My question, is how do you successfully make an answer key for an essay question? That’s one thing I’m not entirely sure on, and we haven’t really gone over it. I thought of just putting down something like, the following pieces of information are acceptable to base the essay on: followed by the allowed topics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
