Post Body

My kid is taking health class in 8th grade. The class is about food, nutritional, the body and mental health. The class started 4 weeks ago. The teacher makes comments such as the following:

Topic: healthy vs. non healthy food. The teacher was talking about access to high quality food. She said minorities didn’t have access to quality food because America was a racist country.

Discussion on the bones in the body: She said that the bones in the body are strong but Christians tortured and killed Jews and others minorities by breaking their bones.

I feel like she is just giving her personal opinion and needs to just teach the class. Should I say something to her or the principal?

Comments

She’s not wrong, but she does seem to be blurring the lines between what she’s supposed to be teaching and her personal opinions which is unprofessional. Kids are like sponges and they need to be encouraged to think for themselves, not just parroting what they’ve been taught.
