I work in tech sales, which is an extremely fratty, bro-y, white male dominanted field. I’m not particularly feminine, but I’m 100% out at work and my interests definitely don’t align with a lot of the people I work with. I’m generally pretty extroverted and my colleagues are very nice (I’m lucky to live in NYC where homophobia isn’t much of a thing) but sometimes the hyper masculine fratty energy is absolutely exhausting and I dread happy hours and work events where I have to socialize with these people.
Does anyone else sometimes struggle with working in such an alpha male dominated field? How do you cope?
