How exactly does printing and distributing more money result in inflation?

This has always confused me. While I understand and accept that this is the case, I've always been confused about the how/why of it. How does this alone cause prices to rise? Is it sellers simply reacting to the presence of more money in buyers' hands? What's the link here?
