Do I need a second orthopedic opinion?
Post Body

29, Female, USA Medications: Wellbutrin, adderall for depression/anxiety and ADHD Current complaint: broken finger Duration of complaint: 48 hours

Two days ago I jammed my left pointer finger while banging a shoe on the ground trying to get mud off it. I went to urgent care yesterday, had three x-rays taken and the doctor said it was broken in two places. He advised me to see an orthopedist ASAP. I called one today and they fit me in at the end of the day. The doctor asked me why I thought my finger was dislocated and I told him I never said that, but rather that it was broken. He said “that’s not what my report says” so I asked if he received the x-rays I sent to the front desk people and he said no, so I sent him the three images. He said he doesn’t “do fingers” but he opened one file and said that he could only see one fracture. I asked him what about the other image files and he said he doesn’t need to view them. He then told me to order an oval eight (?) off Amazon and that would fix it.

Based on the images, is there one fracture or two? Is the advice he gave me sound, or should I seek a second opinion? He was very dismissive and curt with me, and did not instill much confidence. He did also advise that I stop wearing the metal/foam splint that urgent care gave me so my finger doesn’t go stiff, which I have since taken off. I’m just worried about ordering this thing off Amazon and my bones healing incorrectly. He said my finger is hyperextended. Idk what that means.
