Hi All,
I am a 35F, White, 4'11" tall and currently weigh around 102 lbs. My eGFR has been steadily around 80 since my mid 20's (with some rogue measurement of 60 and most recent of 90), most recent creatinine .86.
I have been listening to Peter Attia's podcast and it has made me concerned that my eGFR is very low for my age. I don't have protein in my urine (aside from trace amount of protein and blood in urine when I was ill; all negative on repeat urinalysis). My blood pressure is good and I do not have diabetes.
Is it possible that 80 eGFR is just my "normal", or is this a harbinger of kidney disease later in life? My PCP is dismissive because she said anything above 60 is not of concern, but this seems short-sighted to me. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent progression to CKD in the years to come. I plugged my stats into an eGFR calculator that adjusts for body size and the results were even worse. I am very muscular now, though was not in my 20's when earlier results were obtained.
The only medication I take is spironolactone, reduced down to 50mg/day from 100 (for acne/possible PCOS). Could this be the cause? I recently started taking creatine monohydrate but was not on it at the time of my last blood draw. I take Vitamins D3, B12, magnesium, and omega-3, all of which are from reputable brands approved by LabDoor. I drink very little, maybe 1-2 cocktails per week, some weeks no alcohol at all.
How concerned should I be? What steps should I take?
TL;DR I am young and healthy but my eGFR is way lower than it should be.
