How can you make homemade mayonnaise last as long as possible in the fridge?

I've read that adding more vinegar can greatly extend the mayo's lifespan (from a couple of weeks to a couple of months), but are there other ingredients or processes that can achieve the same thing without making the mayo too sour-tasting?
