My wife’s 2012 mercedes C250 has been having weird problems accelerating lately. It started with just a shake when trying to pass or anything that required the turbo to really engage. We took the car to the dealership and had a diagnosis of a new transmission control, head gasket needed replacing. $5300 later the car seems fixed and we go about our lives.
A month later it starts happening again, but this time worse. This time it won’t accelerate under pressure at all. Anything other than a slow acceleration causes car to shake. Diagnosis new intercooler. $1550 later and they said it’s still doing it and will continue to look for the problem.
At what point is there any recourse for improper diagnosis and wasteful repairs? Or are we at the mercy of the dealership and will possibly spend more on the car than it’s worth only to be told, ‘Sorry, we can’t fix it.’?
