Phantasia in more than just imagination and dreams - What about memories?
Post Body

I've read that some people lack a vivid image when trying to imagine things, but say they don't have problems seeing images when dreaming. But what about memories? When discussing aphantasia and whether subjects are experiencing aphantasia or not, I would love to hear if they apply to their dreams and memories as well, not just imagination. Are there differences there too? Personally I believe I'm experiencing aphantasia and experience it just the same in dreams, memories and imagination. However, to me it seems quite plausible that if there's a difference in phantasia in dreams and imagination; there could be a difference in imagination and memories as well.

On that note, I would like to ask the community here: Is your experience of phantasia similar across all those three domains (memories, dreams and imagination)? How do you visualise (or not) images in those three domains?

Comments

All black here. I know I dream but it's more like a plot, I can't say I see anything
