I don't know if this has been mentioned in any studies or has been discussed before. A recent experience leads me to believe that people with aphantasia might "speak another language". It also makes sense to me, as we probably form different scaffolding in our mind to process information. This is a single experience and could be coincidental, but I wanted to share it anyway.
I'm in a very technical role and am currently participating in a project where I am mentoring some interns. Something I've always found difficult is explaining technical concepts to people. I've typically preferred to communicate via text (e.g. email) as a result, as it allows me to throw in supporting content.
All of the interns are performing fantastically. I've not had any difficulty (no more than usual) explaining concepts and giving instructions. However, one of the interns seemed to have an uncanny ability to grasp any concept I explained and, in some cases, almost finishing my sentences.
On a whim, I asked them if they had aphantasia and they do.
It's very rare that anyone has had this ability to understand what I'm saying so well - and since we had that in common, I've lept to aphantasia being the cause.
Would love to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences
