CRS appointment today
Post Body

I had my Colorectal Surgeon appt today. Went to see one just at the recommendation of my GP. Met in his office - chatted about my fissure issue and gave him the timeline.

  • At end of may, I had what i thought was a hemorrhoid - no clue how.
  • Noticed a tag and treated using Mr. tucks cooling wipes and Prep-H
  • June 3rd GP told me I had a fissure and gave me Nifedipine & Lidocaine.
  • Been seeing less blood, and not as painful of BMs, but also not fully back to normal. Still taking 300mg stool softener / day
  • today June 30th CRS appt

After chatting - we did an exam. Why does NO ONE talk about the pain you’ll experience during this - AND when he sticks the camera up there. Y’all… I swear I saw hell, and screamed loud enough heaven heard it.

I swear this process (maybe b/c I’m swollen?) hurt more than the fissure itself and all I could think about was him killing me with what he was doing and seemed so wide that it was going to re-tear me.

He said that I in fact have 2 fissures, and a tag. One at 12-o’clock (sphincter area closer to testicles) that is V shaped and seems pretty deep, and another one at 4-o’clock (which he says is an atypical location). He ordered a blood STD test (even though I already had a negative one May 3rd), just to rule out that the fissure is not due to an STI since we don’t know how I actually got them. No constipation, no diarrhea, no anal sex, no insertion, just random.

Due to what he saw (from the Hubble Telescope he shoved up my butt) he feels confident that the rectal walls are healthy, not cancerous and no GI / crohns related issues.

He wants me to call on Thursday for test results. And maybe to talk about going on a Nitroglycerin - and I have a follow up with him in 2 weeks back in the office. (Next time I’m taking a Tylenol before hand and numbing my ass before he does that to me again lol).

Sharing in cases anyone needs hope/ has a similar experience/ and also to gain any insight and education on what maybe I need to ask next time.

We talked about acute vs. chronic. How many 2nd LIS surgeries he’s had to do on his patients (said maybe 6-7 in 18 years of practice). Help me! What should I be concerned about / asking / doing more research on etc.

This thread has helped inform me of what to know and expect and would love this post to benefit someone as others have me, but also I’m still seeking to learn whatever I can about this and from your experiences.
