Frequent flyer don’t mean much

I’ve been on six flights this week. I fly at least three times a week every week. And I am fourth on the upgrade list because I don’t have a credit card attached to American Airlines. You think they would be reward people actually using their product. Americans loyalty program is lacking. Very frustrating that I stay loyal to one airline and I have to earn my status by applying for a credit card. Customer service nonexistent.
