AITA for changing my mind of move in day deciding I want the bigger bedroom?

Post Body

So a few months ago I moved into a one bedroom w/ a girl to get out of my living situation. The rhythm was great so I asked if she wanted to be my roommate and get a better place. This one was so tiny, cockroaches were in the dishwasher & she sleeps in the family room. When she said yes I was excited we got to it. However, her criteria is that she only pay $530 a month. Which I was fine. I’d pay significantly more but I agreed to that if we moved and I also couldn’t move without her because I have no rental history and one of my jobs is under the table. So I needed her to qualify. She texted me one day asking what room I wanted. I replied the room with the windows because I loved the light. We move in & I say “well which one’s the bigger room?” And it’s clearly the one I didn’t choose. I ask her if we can switch, and she seem viscerally upset. I told her I had good reason though I’m paying more and also because the layout of the first room has nowhere for a tv and she doesn’t have a tv. I felt like I was acting like a princess, so after fighting for what I wanted. I came to her and said it’s not that big of a deal if this will cause tension let’s not switch. She said if I stay two years and she can have the hallway closest it’s fine. Anyways I agreed as much as I could. I’m going to school next year so it depends if I get accepted in a school nearby the apartment or if the commute is commutable. After this agreement I assumed all was fine. We get the U-Haul & no talk of this. We move & no talk of this. As soon as I leave I get a text message explicitly explaining why she is mad. She expresses her disdain for my character. In addition she brings up that fact that her cat had tore up the carpet more when I lived there causing her stress, when she has requested I monitor him so he doesn’t do that. Unfortunately it was an accident so I told her I would pay for my part to the point that it’s fair.

I try to think logically and fairly. But she said she wouldn’t have brought up the past if something had changed. She means me following through on my words. I’m starting to feel like anything said in casual is taken as a signed contract to her. Maybe it’s communication styles. I just feel like horrible now.

At the end of the day I guess I won’t be giving answers until I know my answer 100%. I won’t be saying anything until I know my answer 100%.

So is it me?

To clarify I don’t remember sending the txt message, I offered her the room back countless times & it’s settled I get the bigger she doesn’t want to switch back.
