Today I went to my cousinās birthday dinner. Beforehand, I took a year break from any communication with my aunt as she drains my energy. Sheās someone who loves to talk to anyone for hours on end everyday. Iām someone who needs their alone time quite often, so I put myself first for a year by cutting contact with her. Sheās also someone who gets offended if we donāt see her whenever it suits her. Iāve been overwhelmed with mental health lately and just couldnāt deal with seeing her 24/7 or coming up with an excuse as to why I donāt want to see her as she REQUIRES one. Simply saying āI donāt feel like seeing anyone right nowā is not good enough. I finally decided to see her and everyone else in my family for the first time in a year. I felt a bit offended that my aunt didnāt even bother speaking to me. Keep in mind thereās no bad blood between us as she never stopped inviting me places the whole year I didnāt contact her. She asked about my work and then talked to someone else. AITA for expecting my aunt to talk to me at least about anything other than work since I didnāt speak to her for a year or is she the asshole for not bothering to even seem excited or want to see me?
