I really do need some help here. Iām currently a Senior in Highschool and getting meps scheduled has been a real pain in the ass. I have a small amount of toenail fungus on my left big toe that I took medication for (Terbinafine) and it is now growing out, but my recruiter told me to wait until itās completely gone to go to meps so I donāt risk getting disqualified over it. Fair enough, I see his point, so I decided to wait it out, even though itās a small amount. So after getting that taken care of, I got an ear infection and took amoxicillin for it, and it finally healed but there is still a small amount of fluid in my ear and the ear canal is swollen, causing my hearing to not be 100%. Not a big deal, as I still have to wait for my toenail to grow out anyways. The problem is now my parents are being super pushy about me applying for and filling out scholarships just in case I get disqualified (I wonāt, I literally just have to wait until my ear and toenail have healed). I mean pushy to the point that my mom has been screaming at me over it, and my dad has threatened to ground me from everything until I fill them out. Big boy problems, I know. Bring on the jokes. My mom keeps accusing me of being lazy and putting it off, but I just donāt see the point in filling them out and potentially taking them away from someone else that actually needs them. And itās literally a complete waste of time, Iām 100% committed to enlisting, and my health is 100% except the toenail and ear, so I wonāt have a problem with meps. The recruiter has double checked everything and told me Iām good to go once I heal up. I have tried telling my parents this, but they say I just keep making up excuses. I was hoping that some of you could give me advice on what to do here. I have gotten the vibe from them that they want me to apply for scholarships just so they can brag about them to other parents. My mom has brought up repeatedly how embarrassing itās going to be when I follow my classmates onto the podium at graduation who are getting full rides and sports scholarships and all the crap I donāt care about, and then āso and so- plans on entering the Air Forceā Neither of my parents were military, so they really donāt understand it at all, but itās just so frustrating. I have gone over this situation over and over in my head and I just canāt see what the right thing to do is. I was hoping that someone here could give me some solid advice. Should I just bite the bullet and fill them out, even though itās literally pointless?
