Okay, so obviously the solution is to get more RAM, which if coming in the mail. However, I find this error odd, because I used to render fairly comparable compositions on a laptop with 8 GB RAM and it never crashed. I recently bought a new computer (specs below) and I find it odd that it can't handle similar renders?
Here's what I've tried to do to fix troubleshoot the error:
- Tried rendering through Media Encoder or AE render queue through different file formats (none seem to affect the crashing)
- I tried increasing my computer's virtual memory amount
- Tried rendering off my computer's graphics card instead of through AE
- Purged my cache
The renders do seem to crash when there are a lot of effects going on (a BG layer with turbulent displace, motion tile (don't worry, it's just the size of the comp) and a blur, and an animated text layer in front), but relatively speaking, this still isn't a whole lot. I guess I'm just curious as to why my PC can't get through these renders, and whether anyone here has any tips/similar experiences. Specs below.
Intel Core i7-10700K 3.8GHz CPU
16 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB
500GB PCI-E NVMe SSD
