While surfing around Reddit one night, I came across a sub for crushes. It got my attention because over the past few years, I’ve developed quite a crush on a coworker. However, as soon as I posted on that sub, I got bashed because we’re both in relationships. This sub obviously is a little more open to the concept, so I’m just throwing this out there to get it off my chest and to see if anyone has any thoughts.

Me and my crush have been working at the same company for about four years. However, over the past year, she actually became a part of the same team that I’m on. Obviously, we talk a lot more and see a lot more of each other in online meetings. By the way, I work from home but she goes into the office periodically. It sucks because we don’t really get to see each other in person very often. Anyhow, here’s what happened A couple weeks ago.

We were both attending a coworker‘s celebration party at a local restaurant, and for the most part, everything was pretty normal. We talked and laughed and smiled just like everyone else. Nothing out of the ordinary… Until we left.

We were all standing in front of the restaurant saying our goodbyes and talking a little bit. In my peripheral vision, I thought I saw her looking over at me several times. So, I turned and saw that in fact she was staring right at me. I kind of smiled and glanced away. But then something in my brain clicked and saw this as an opportunity. The next time, I turned around and caught her looking at me so I held the stare into her eyes. We both shyly grinned at each other but didn’t turn away. Eventually, one of us would look away but this reoccurred about three or four times.

Near the end of the conversation, we met eyes again and smiled, but neither of us turned away. We stared at each other for what seems like forever, getting lost into each others eyes. We shared little grins with each other but then were absolutely straight faced, just staring at each other. Those big brown eyes of hers were like magnets, drawing me in closer and closer. There were butterflies in my stomach as this went on and I’m hoping she felt the same way. Either that or it was some type of bizarre staring contest! LOL!

We didn’t see each other face-to-face again until these past few days. We were both at a conference and although we were both very busy, she seemed to make efforts to come over and talk to me and to be near me. I purposely wasn’t being too aggressive, because I was very nervous from the week before. We chatted several times and I even put a reassuring arm around her at one point as she was getting ready to make a presentation.

Yesterday, I wasn’t expecting her to be there but there she was! She was in one of the side rooms where there was some training going on. I kept finding excuses to go into the room just to see her. One of the final times when I left the room, I looked right at her because she was looking at me. She smiled that beautiful smile of hers and kind of giggled, cutely raising her eyebrows at me. we held eyes again for several seconds until I disappeared outside the door. I’m thinking I should have winked or something just to show her that I’m totally getting her vibes.

We have always been really nice to one another and I know I’ve even did some mild flirting, and whenever I get a chance, I like to put a comforting hand on her shoulder. And the best part is that she never shies away from it. Along those lines, we took a picture outside the restaurant that night before we started looking into each other‘s eyes and I was right behind her in the group. She looked back at me and honestly seemed surprised that I didn’t put my arm on her shoulder or on the small of her back. Missed opportunities…

I love this sort of fantasy world that these interactions have put me in, but I’m genuinely curious as to if she actually likes me back or is just being super nice. There is a somewhat moderate age difference between us, but that doesn’t necessarily concern me. And I’ve been told by others that I am an attractive person, but I realize I’m no silver fox or anything! LOL! But I definitely can hold my own and never had an issue finding a lady to like me back.

I am married and she’s engaged to her longtime boyfriend, so maybe it’s just both of us yearning for that exciting feeling again. I don’t know. I wish I could get inside of her head just for a while to see how she felt for me. Because I certainly feel a lot for her…
