This is a random thought that occurred to me while rewatching Von Karma being cornered by Phoenix. There’s more than one way he could’ve easily gotten out of being named the murderer. 1. He could’ve gone under the knife and killed the surgeon, leaving no traces of evidence. It’s not too hard to stab someone in the heart with gloves on. 2. He could’ve gone under the knife by a surgeon who was due to die soon. That way, there wouldn’t be a witness left. Considering Yanni Yogi was taken in for the murder, there wouldn’t be much of a chance of it being investigated. 3. He could’ve gone under the knife and told the surgeon that he accidentally shot himself during firing practice or give some sort of excuse. That way, the surgeon would toss the bullet (or Von Karma himself would) and there wouldn’t be any evidence. 4. He could’ve claimed, in court, that he was handling the evidence and accidentally shot himself with the gun. As far as I know, there’s no way to prove how long a bullet has been in someone’s body. 5. He could’ve gone under the knife with the surgeon being a connection of his. Obviously, it’s not like we know if he’s friends with a surgeon, but it’s a distinct possibility. The surgeon wouldn’t rat him out then. And, if that were the case, the bullet would just be tossed.
There’s probably a few more I’m not thinking of right now, but... I wonder what would’ve happened if he wasn’t caught.
