It seems to be a trait shared among Thenardier and his family to be spontaneous and helpful when it is gainful to them in some way. I wonder if given the time to understand Father Thenardier could he have once been like his late son and daughter? Selfless and giving? Bratty and a cherub?
Now I wonder if all the players are going to be set in one place again quite soon.
