I know there is a sticky post about taxes from 2 months ago but hopefully, seeing this in your front page feed will remind you! The sticky post has great information on filing. If you have other forgetful friends, pass along the reminder.
As a side note, I always do my taxes as soon as I receive the last forms I need. That way I don't have time to lose it aka place them somewhere where I know I'll find them easily. You receive your refund faster too. I almost always filed at the end of tax season (last day usually) and this new system of mine has helped.
Using the same online tax company will help if you file your own taxes. When you use it the second time it pulls in info from the prior year and will notify you if you don't enter things you did the prior year. I've caught myself missing things once in a while.
Another way I combat my constant loss of paperwork is to save my returns to my Google drive when done. If I'm extra ambitious, I scan the other forms as well. I lose papers like it's a full time job so it def helps to have the digital backup that won't disappear if the computer dies (happened to me twice).
Best of luck!
