Looking for help/advice regarding a pharmacy question!

Post Body

So, I started ADHD meds in the last 2 months. First my doctor put me on Vyvanse because of my history of anxiety, but I had to switch up my insurance and they were requiring that I try Adderall XR before approving coverage on Vyvanse. I think I like the Adderall better and want to continue with that.

My current pharmacy is Rite Aid and if you haven’t heard, they are all closing down in some areas.

I still have a script for Vyvanse (never been filled before) at Rite Aid and was wondering if it would cause issues or raise any flags if I fill that script (at rite aid) then a few days later, fill a new Adderall script that my doctor sends in to CVS.

The pharmacist at Rite Aid told me that I wouldn’t be able to transfer over the Vyvanse script since it hasn’t been filled before.

The whole reason I want to do this is to kind of give myself a safeguard in case I can’t get a hold of medication because there’s been a shortage.

My friend is a pharmacist and told me I could probably get away with this, but that’s kind of a sketch answer, lol.

My doctor is cool and understanding so I was also just considering filling it and telling him I did to have it for emergencies or that I didn’t realize I was filling the Vyvanse as well and even offer to return the medication back to the pharmacy, even though he probably wouldn’t have me do this.

I don’t wanna raise any flags to my doctor or the pharmacist so maybe I’m just better off not doing this?

Opinions/experiences appreciated!
