Was playing on singleplayer in seed 1979277289. I'd found the seed online and wasn't sure the world I was playing on matched the map I saw online. In an effort to double-check, I selected New Game, selected Advanced Map Generation, and plugged in the seed. The map I saw matched the one I saw online, even though it didn't feel like it matched the world I was playing in. I assumed that the map just doesn't always match the world 1:1 and went back to playing. However, when I loaded my save, the terrain was different--the roads, while still being road tiles and having random debris patches, had been covered in a layer of the grass texture. Additionally, when I drove into town to do a tier 4 quest I had gotten earlier, the topography outside my load distance seemed to suddenly shift into hills that covered the town I was driving through. Finally, when I tried to hit the marker to start the quest, I kept getting the console message "EXC NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I'm afraid I may have broken my world, and I'm hoping it's not irreparable. Can anyone help me fix this?
Update: First of all, I was mistaken, I'm playing in A21.1 (A21.2 is the experimental branch). Second, I eventually determined based on loose evidence that the world either didn't generate properly in the first place or generated differently after a minor update. I managed to bring over my player data and loot to a new save using the same seed, properly generated this time. The old world has collapsed and I've dimension-hopped into a new one.
Depends on where the seed was from and if you try to change it and you updated your game. Seeds don't really work like Minecraft in this game it's what you name the world is what the seed is. The glitching you're seeing could be like an overlap of what your character has downloaded verse what the server has. Try loading in a new character and see if you have the same issues. If you want to continue with your character you just have to basically go to your app data folder wipe everything out in there while saving your character information. And try to put your character back in but the problem is if you have any remnants of the old map anywhere you're going to see this glitching.
