Hi all - I've played other tabletop games but will be starting my first D&D campaign shortly (5e standard). We'll be starting from scratch at level 1.
Trying to make a "shadow dancer" type character who can blink/vanish around combat similar to Nightcrawler in X-Men. I see that the Rogue Assassin and Way of Shadow Monk each have certain of these elements, and some initial research indicates that going 6 into Monk to get Shadow Step/Double Attack and the rest in Rogue could work since I don't want to be reliant on hiding behind terrain in between attacks (or perhaps there's something that can be done with the Darkness spell)?
Any feedback on if this is workable, and if so (or if not) how I should think about creating and leveling this character from level 1 (i.e. 1-2 in Rogue, then 6 in Monk, then the rest back in Rogue)? Any pitfalls to avoid, or perhaps simpler/alternative ways to get the same playstyle?
Greatly appreciate any/all feedback!
